Speed Society 1,000 HP Camaro ZL1 Build With WELD Wheels

Published On: 02/02/2019

Thanks to Vengeance Racing, the Camaro is cranking out a whopping 1,000 horsepower, put on the road thanks to WELD S72 Beadlock wheels

This Camaro ZL1 build is done by our friends at Speed Society. Part of their battle of boost series, it is accompanied by a sick Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG, cranking out insane amounts of horsepower. However, since we pride ourselves with the “Built in America” philosophy, the Camaro ZL1 will be the focal point of this showcase. And what a build it is!

The vehicle features a completely revamped performance aspect, cranking out over 1,000 horsepower. Naturally, in order to transfer all of that power to the road safely, a set of WELD S72 and S72 Beadlock forged wheels come wrapped with sticky Mickey Thompson ET Street R tires, giving this Camaro ZL1 the means to duke it out with anyone it encounters in its class on the drag strip.

While this Camaro ZL1 does come with a back seat, it’s not as roomy or comfortable as the Benz, which nobody would expect a raucous red Camaro to be. However, it’s the sheer amount of power that this Camaro ZL1 churns out that makes it all worthwhile, even though you’ll probably only be able to take one other person with you. And there’s nothing wrong with that, is it?

Thanks to Ron and Sean from Vengeance Racing, the Camaro is cranking out a whopping 1,000 horsepower, mostly due to the massive Gen 4 Whipple supercharger under the hood. But there’s much more than a blower swap in play, as there’s a lot happening under the hood. Ron & Co tore the engine down completely and rebuilt it using upgraded parts and hardware to ensure that, even with 1,000 ponies running wild under the hood, it would still be as dependable as a stock Camaro ZL1. The build is the first in the country to get the brand new Whipple blower and also one of the first to feature Lingenfelter’s new high-pressure fuel system. The boost is provided by the Whipple 3.5” upper pulley as well as the addition of an ATI harmonic balancer and DSX Tuning 9.06” lower pulley wrapped by a Gates Green HD supercharger belt to minimize slippage and belt failures.  To cool intake air temperatures at this boost level, Weapon-X Motorsports provided their “Triple X” heat exchanger upgrade kit that substantially lowered temperatures as well as offered quick recovery on the track.  Lastly, Vengeance Racing’s custom billet valve covers were powder coated in a red finish to match the supercharger and installed with Vengeance’s coil pack relocation kit to really dress up the engine bay.

After all the work was done, this Camaro ZL1, through the 10-speed automatic transmission and on Speed Society’s Mustang dynamometer made a HUGE 744rwhp and 767rwtq on pump gas. Furthermore, the car delivered a staggering 850rwhp and 899rwtq on E85 – however, with no methanol injection!  This is right at 1,000 horsepower at the crank in a package that looks nearly identical to the stock ZL1,  but capable of 9 second ET’s at the drag strip. Not bad! Not bad at all!
