PRIM AND PROPER: THE POLISHING TIPS YOU DIDN’T KNOW YOU NEEDED

Spring is almost here, but is your car or truck ready?  From cruise nights, cars and coffee meet ups or lighting them up on the strip, one of the best improvements you can make to a car are the wheels.  We show you how to properly care for the finest wheels on the planet.

Tip 1:  It’s easier to clean your wheels if you take them off the car. I know it is a lot more work, but you can get into all the nooks and crannies much easier with the wheels sitting down on the ground. This is especially important if you need to be concerned with removing salt and ice melting chemical residue from the backsides of your wheels.

Tip 2:  Having the right “tools” for the job will give you the best results. A soft wash mitt, like a lambskin or micro-fiber, a chamois or microfiber drying towel, 100% cotton cloth or PowerBall™ for polishing, gentle automotive soap, premium aluminum polish and latex gloves will give you the showroom quality results you desire.

Tip 3:  Know what kind of finish you have on your wheels. WELD offers a variety of finishes on their wheels, including anodized, powder coated, ATC coated and polished. ONLY our polished wheels should be polished with aluminum polish. Any other finish MUST ONLY be gently washed. Never, never use harsh chemicals like brake cleaner (Yikes!) or harsh abrasives on your WELD wheels. If you have any tar or grease on your wheel, use a 100% cotton cloth and just a little bit of wax and grease remover on the spot.

Tip 4:  Take your time. It took many hours of labor to create these premium forged aluminum alloy wheels. Don’t try to rush through cleaning. You won’t like the results.   To find out more about cleaning your WELD wheels, you can download our wheel care instructions by going here: WELD-Wheel-Care.pdf
